DianiLinks (“DianiLinks”, “we”, “us”) operates the dianilinks.com directory and marketplace for Diani Beach, Kenya. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using DianiLinks you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, phone, and password (authentication is handled by our provider; we never store your raw password).
- Business data: for claimed listings — business details, photos you upload, opening hours, menus/services, and content you publish.
- Transactions: bookings, reservations, event tickets, token purchases, and payment records. Card details are processed by our payment providers (Stripe, M-Pesa) and are never stored by us.
- Messages & reviews: messages between customers and businesses, and reviews you write.
- Usage & device data: pages viewed, searches, approximate location, IP address, and cookies/session identifiers used to keep you signed in and to secure the service.
- Business activity status: for claimed businesses we record recent authenticated activity to show a coarse “active” indicator (e.g. “Active now”, “Active 8 minutes ago”). We do not expose exact login times, IP addresses, device information, or session identifiers, and owners can turn this indicator off.
How we use your information
- To provide the directory, listings, bookings, messaging, tokens, and related features.
- To process payments and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To send transactional notifications (in-app and email) such as booking confirmations, payment receipts, and claim updates. You control these in your notification settings.
- To send marketing emails only if you opt in (marketing is off by default).
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run DianiLinks — hosting and database (Supabase), payments (Stripe, M-Pesa), email delivery, SMS delivery for verification, maps, and error monitoring — each processing data on our behalf. We may disclose information when required by law. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies & sessions
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect the service. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Data retention & security
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. Access is protected by row-level security, encrypted connections, and least-privilege server credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
Your choices & rights
- Update your profile and notification preferences at any time in your account settings.
- Turn off your business activity indicator (Dashboard → Show my business activity status).
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
- Businesses may reply to reviews but cannot remove legitimate reviews; report abuse for admin review.
Children
DianiLinks is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
